“Why politicians can’t make good policy”

Yesterday was published on The Economist site the next topic “Why politicians can't make good policy: It's not because they're not smart people“followed by the respective text. The answer is quite simple and true for all countries.

The majority, we can even say almost all the politicians with merely rare exceptions that create the historical leaders, are incapable of making good policy because what moves them is not the country best interest but their own ambitions and interest, so they have to feed all the lobbies who support them in their political ambitions.

It is also true that they aren’t dumb persons but it is also right that in most of the cases they aren’t as smart as they try to sell themselves to the constituents. We can even say that rarely they are the best, the smarter and much less the most honest that our countries have to offer.

If they are honest they will never get approved by the party, because the party needs to pay and sustain all that people who have the controls of it and that means that the politician once in the power have to get jobs and placements to all the party big sharks and that have a simple name… corruption. Consequently the smartest of our countries prefers to work on the private sector because they can honestly earn a lot more that they can legitimately earn on the public sector, the big fortunes made on the public sector are by being corrupt not by being honest.

The only way we can change this reality is by making the anti-corruption combat a cultural question, a question of national mentality and to change the way how parties work. It is here where lies the difference between the politicians from country to country. On the countries where constituents have a higher sense of civility, honesty and elector power over the politicians, where the constituents do not reduce their participations on public life to the moment and the act of voting, where the constituents keep a more closer attention to the politicians actions and decisions is where the politicians make more good policy because is the only way to the re-election.
